The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine issued the following statement: “A systematic review has found that homeopathic remedies in high dilution, taken under the supervision of trained professionals, are generally considered safe and unlikely to cause severe adverse reactions.” Additionally, there are no known interactions between conventional medications and homeopathic medications.

Homeopathy, put simply, is the medical practice of treating like with like. The practice initially began from the basic tenet that human beings have a capacity for healing themselves, and that the symptoms of disease reflect the individual’s struggle to overcome the forces antagonistic to life. Homeopathic practicioners consider it better to treat the sick person rather than the disease. As such, because the patient is treated and not the disease, patients suffering from the same disease will often require different remedies, while another group of patients with different diseases may all benefit from the same remedy.

Homeopathy is used for a wide variety of conditions, including:

  • bed-wetting
  • bruises
  • bumps
  • chronic otitis media
  • colds
  • coughs
  • flu
  • minor skin irritations
  • pain related to teething
  • sprains
